The scary heavy duty machines that you can see here were part of an electric shock treatment: an ordeal which patients went through as part of their recovery. The chairs are positioned as though the treatment had several spectators or as patients waited in them, they could see what they were about to go through.

The image shows the peeling hospital bathrooms where the sinks are still holding on to the walls. Despite the peeling exterior, it is easy to imagine what these bathrooms looked like back in the day.
