Not everyone likes winter, but at least when we were younger we actually got snow days where we could play on our wooden sledges with not a care in the world. Here are 12 things that’ll remind you of winter when you were younger…

1. Frog wellies.

Who had a pair of these?

2. Draught excluder.

These things kept the draughts out..

3. Gas fire.

You’d have this blasting out in the winter when it was freezing cold.

4. Gloves on a string.

If you lost your gloves you had nothing to keep your hands warm, so keeping them on a tie was a very good idea. People didn’t replace things all the time like they do now.

5. Hot vimto.

Who else had hot vimto in winter to keep them warm?

6. Hot water bottles.

Your hot water bottle was your best friend in the cold months.

7. Ice on the inside of your windows.

No double glazing meant VERY VERY cold houses.

8. Lucozade.

There was nothing a glass of Lucozade couldn’t fix.

9. Parker.

Your parker would last you for about 2-3 school years if you didn’t grow too much. Everyone had a parker for winter.

10. Wooden sledge.

We didn’t seem to care about health and safety back in the day….that’s maybe why we had so much fun.

11. Snow.

Back in the day when we actually used to get snow in winter. You’d get days off school if it was really deep. Nowadays, the best we get are a few snowflakes falling in mid-March, what on earth is that about?!

12. Tunes.

My mum would always fill my pockets full of these whenever I got a cold.
