As a kid many of us Brits used the exact same toiletries. And whether those toiletries were of our own choice or through our parents, they will certainly bring back childhood memories. Here is a list of 14 toiletries that will remind you of being a British kid.
1. The Smurf’s toothbrush.
As a kid a Smurf’s toothbrush was an absolute essential and somehow the Smurfs actually made brushing our teeth relatively exciting. It was definitely a tough time in our lives when we were deemed ‘too old’ for one of these.
2. Bed Head mousse.
We can’t hide from the fact that every girl thought it was acceptable to drench their hair in Bed Head mouse. It was the only way to achieve those all important curls.
3. Wet look styling gel.
This was definitely a big part of every guy’s morning routine. A wet look styling gel was key to keeping that hair firmly spiked!
4. Lacoste pink perfume.
Any girl who owned Lacoste pink during primary school was to be admired. For some reason this perfume alone guaranteed you the status as a ‘cool’ kid.
5. Palmers Coco butter.
This must have been the only moisturiser to exist in the 90s because it’s scent could be recognised on every classmates and it seemed to be the only moisturiser our mums forced us to use.
6. Bath oil beads.
Now these were AMAZING. What kid wasn’t in awe of these soft scented beads which disappeared in the water before our eyes? These certainly made bath time a whole lot more bearable.
7. Colgate Looney Tunes toothpaste.
This was every parents answer to getting us kids to brush our teeth. And we can’t deny that we were slightly fond of the Looney Tunes toothpaste.
8. Impulse deodorant.
Who didn’t collect the impulse deodorants? And by the time we were in year 6 every girl was sneaking this into her school bag.
9. Johnsons baby powder.
Now this brings back memory! Whose mum didn’t dowse them in this baby powder after a bath. Although it may have smelt nice, to this day I’m still not sure what its purpose is.
10. Hair Candy nail varnish.
Hard Candy nail varnish was a MUST for every 90s girl. And the free hand rings which came with it were an added bonus.
11. Loreal kids shampoo.
This is a 90s kid classic! Every mum seemed to be convinced that this ‘no tears’ shampoo would suddenly eliminate the fear of having your hair washed.
12. Lynx aftershave.
The Lynx aftershaves were definitely, and probably still are a favourite with the boys. Who can deny this wasn’t at the top of their Christmas list every year?
13. Charlie perfumes.
Now every kid had the collection of Charlie sprays, but having just one of the Charlie perfumes was a privilege. Dowsing yourself in Charlie perfume was a morning essential before school.
14. Matey Bubble bath.
No bubble bath could compare to a Matey bubble bath. Simply showing us the bottle of Matey alone was enough to get us to agree to a bath with minimal fuss.
