In 2018, statistics showed 1 in 59 children is diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – with boys being 4 times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls.

If you aren’t familiar with autism, it might be helpful to know that it is a wide spectrum and people can be on either side or in the middle.

Sadly, autistic kids and adults were once and still are today never fully diagnosed, being labelled as “bad/naughty kids”. Many ‘autistic behaviours’ were labelled as “bad”; people simply had no idea that autism was a possibility years ago.

Fortunately, with the internet, we now have the opportunity to do our own research; with over 500,000 teens entering adulthood without being properly diagnosed, it’s more important than ever for us all to have a better understanding of ASD.
