The TV couple were recently axed by ITV’s This Morning, and the BBC is now looking to sign them up for their own programme.

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper:

‘Eamonn and Ruth have a huge fanbase and are very experienced.

‘They can easily carry any number of shows, so producers at the Beeb are considering handing them a format to front’.

The celebrity duo – who have been married since 2010 – are being replaced on This Morning’s Friday edition by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

But earlier this year, Ruth claimed that she and Eamonn deserved their success in the TV industry because they’d both worked their way to the top.

The 60-year-old TV presenter – who has Jack, 18, with Eamonn – claimed that unlike some presenters these days, her fame isn’t the result of appearing on a reality show.

    She said:

‘We’ve put the work in. We didn’t do a reality show and get an overnight job on the telly. We’ve come up through the ranks.

‘Eamonn was only 19 when he started out. And he was doing the teatime news in Belfast during The Troubles. It was heavy stuff. And he’s now got an OBE for services to broadcasting’.

Meanwhile, Eamonn was reportedly “furious” with the decision to axe him from This Morning.

    A source said:

‘Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made’.
