11 Memes Only 90s Kids Will Understand

Only ’90s kids will understand the true struggle of…well…growing up in the nineties! These memes are hilarious and also painfully true, and will probably unlock some repressed memories that you thought you’d totally forgotten you ever had…

    1. The Jelly Sandals

For some reason, we all owned a pair of these incredibly uncomfortable jelly sandals that left our feet covered in blisters after walking for approximately two minutes. Lots of pain. No gain.

    2. The Issue With Capri Suns

It was very touch and go when it came to the intricate process of poking a straw into your capri sun. There was a strategy involved to ensure that the straw would go into the pouch rather than end up sticking through the other side of it. Did we always get it right? Nah.

    3. The Love Notes

Like all great stories, it started with a note. Back in the good ol’ days we didn’t have the luxury of a dating app that would confirm to us if someone found us attractive, or the emotional maturity to ask someone out to their face.

Hence, passing a note to your crush in class was the way to do it…or excruciatingly humiliating if it ended up in the wrong hands!

    4. Pinball

When the internet was off for some reason, every windows computer and laptop offered this game as a consolation prize. You played pinball by pressing your keyboard keys with the aim of shooting the pinball to exit the other side of the virtual machine.

Again, it took strategy and a lot of practice.

    5. Clifford The Big Red Dog And Arthur Were THE BEST

If you don’t recognise these cartoons, then sorry but you should get a refund on your childhood.

    6. The Super Sonic ‘S’

Doodling an abundance of super sonic ‘S’s on all of your school notepads became a random thing everyone used to do in school. Do you still remember how to draw one?

    7. So Many Toys

’90s kids didn’t have the benefit of today’s technology, and so we had to use our imagination. Hence, we had more toys than we knew what to do with because it was all about having the biggest collection and showing off your toys to your mates.

    8. Playing Computer Games With Your Pals

Playing two-player games was a little trickier back in the ’90s, and would involve you and your friend huddling together and fighting over who was hogging all the keyboard space, or trying to sabotage you if you were playing 1 v 1.

    Good times.

    9. The Butterfly Clips

Why is it that every girl in the ’90s owned about fifty of these multicolour butterfly clips that would snap in half if you tried to clip back more than a millimetre of hair?

Just the thought of stepping on one of these pesky things whilst barefoot makes our eyes water.

    1o. Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards

Having the biggest collection of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards would determine how cool you were. Prove us wrong.

    11. ‘Push-A-Point’ Pencils

The downside of these pencils were you couldn’t sharpen them if the lead snapped (which it would many times). The upside of these pencils is that they looked super cool and they had replaceable pencil heads. Totally unnecessary but we loved them.
