Justin Bower:
Natasha Kaplinsky has been married to husband Justin Bower for many years now.
But, still so little is known about him.
Justin doesn’t share his wife’s dream of the spotlight and instead, is a private equity professional.
Not much is known about the banker, as he keeps himself to himself.
However, we do know that the well to do couple live in a sprawling countryside estate in Sussex.
When did Justin Bower get married to Natasha Kaplinsky?
On 21 August 2005, Natasha Kaplinsky married husband Justin Bower.
Natasha has previously spoken out about how her husband persuaded her to marry him after just three dates.
Talk about moving fast!
The couple met on a blind date, and Natasha said her (now) husband Justin was keen to tie the knot with her despite repeatedly slipping up and getting her name wrong.
He kept calling her Natalie!
However, this didn’t seem to bother Natasha Kaplinsky too much as she later agreed and Justing Bower became her husband six months later.
Natasha says she knew he was Mr Right at a very early stage in their relationship.
Speaking with The Mail, she said: “I’ve never felt that sense of certainty about someone before. We met for lunch, then had a peppermint tea together one afternoon and on our next date we booked a holiday to the Maldives, where he proposed. It was all very, very quick but at the time it felt like an eternity.”
Natasha Kaplinsky and Justin Bower children:
The happy couple went on to have two children together.
They welcomed their first child, a son called Arlo, in September 2008.
Natasha Kaplinsky and her husband later had a daughter, Angelica, in April 2010.
It seems having children had not been an easy journey for Natasha Kaplinsky and Justin Bower.
In October 2020, Natasha opened up about previously losing a baby on TV show Miscarriage: Our Story.
Natasha opened up about her heartbreak when her first pregnancy ended in tragedy, at her 12 week scan.
“I’ll never forget the crestfallen face of the sonographer as he said, ‘I’m so sorry, would you like some time to yourself?’” she says.
“It took me ages to understand that he meant the pregnancy wasn’t going to work.”
Justin Bower coronavirus battle:
When Natasha Kaplinsky’s husband Justin Bower developed a temperature at the beginning of the first lockdown, it raised alarm bells for the family.
17 months on from the incident, Natasha explained exactly what happened.
“It happened the first March [2020] when testing wasn’t really available. He just went downhill really badly, had a really high fever for 10 days. I was actually genuinely quite frightened. I was changing his bed sheets every two hours. We knew there was a pandemic and we’d been shut down, but because there was so little testing we couldn’t confirm he had Covid although he had all the signs. He didn’t have a cough, but later on his body was covered in spots and it was at that point I dialled 999. The paramedics arrived in full PPE. It was a very shocking experience and he took a long time to get better.”
Because the UK National Health Service (NHS) was overwhelmed at that point on the pandemic, Natasha Kaplinsky’s husband Justin Bower didn’t go to hospital.
She told the Independent: “That was my first shock, being in a queue to speak to an ambulance [call handler]. I thought, ‘My gosh, if a child is choking or someone’s having a heart attack, the NHS is literally buckling’. We were painfully aware of the extraordinary lengths the NHS was going through to support people.”
Long Covid:
Unfortunately, the 49-year-old TV presenter’s husband still suffers from long Covid, even though he had no pre-existing conditions and is fit and active.
She said: “There are times when he literally just goes to bed for a week and feels dreadful.”
However, Natasha is truly thankful to all the National Health Service workers who have helped them get though tough times.
She added: “I cannot tell you how much gratitude we have to NHS key workers. They’ve certainly got us through the pandemic.We feel so lucky because there are many who haven’t had the happy ending that we have. We are all here together and we are so aware of the sacrifices that have been made through the pandemic and the price people have paid and the hardships that will exist for a very long time post-pandemic.”
It was while in lockdown that she decided to persuade her children, son Arlo and daughter Kika [Angelica], aged 12 and 11 respectively, to write some letters, initially just to re-introduce the process of letter-writing to keep them amused and to reach out to others. “I’ve always been a prolific letter-writer and have always seized any opportunity to write to somebody. I’ve made my children write thank you letters since they could hold a pen.”
