John Bishop Wife – The Truth About Their Relationship
Comedian John Bishop celebrates his 28th wedding anniversary with his wife, Melanie in the most humorous and sweetest way possible every year.
Married since 1993, the couple have continued to celebrate their love in the cutest ways possible by wearing her wedding gown and twirling around their garden, together with their three beautiful sons.
John bishop shared on his Instagram last year,
“Every year she gets into the wedding dress and spins in the garden.and every year I get a little bit fatter and wonder where the years went.”
Only a year after their marriage, they introduced their first son Joe (27) to the world, followed by Luke (25) and their youngest son, Daniel (23).
The couple has been together since the year 1990 and while they do seem to have everything in their relationship going right, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing.

“Happiness does have a smell… and it’s still my favourite.”
Not much else has been revealed about Melanie’s educational background or career path. Her name became known when she married comedian-husband John Bishop.
It seems their marriage wasn’t all too blissful when 7-years in, the couple split for 18-months in the year 2000. During the split, Bishop admitted to using alcohol as an escape from the heartbreak.
Alcohol Coping Mechanism Came with a Silver Lining
Ultimately, Bishop’s career plummeted and he gained international recognition during the split. When Bishop was on the Jonathan Ross show in 2014, he shared that he once drunkenly walked into a club Machester’s Frog and Bucket, with his alcohol-induced self, grabbed the mic, and started performing his stand-up comedy that eventually gave him the recognition as a stand-up comedian.
Afterwards, he started selling out in the biggest arenas in the UK, performing shows night after night.
When Melanie had the kids, Bishop was miserable. Until one night, she dropped by for a visit at the Frog and Bucket where he was performing one of his shows.
How Did John Win Melanie Over?
It was that late one night in the Frog and Bucket club when Melanie visited and watched his set. He was making terrible jokes about killing his wife and cutting off her face and storing her face in their fridge to keep her there forever.
From then on, they had a few visits to couples counseling and their marriage left on a good note. The couple seems to have benefited greatly from the sessions as they remain stronger than ever to this day.
When the couple reignited the spark in their marriage, they’ve been happily together for the next 21 years.

After they got back together, John stopped using his wife for his comedic bit and instead wrote about his family.
His notable speech for the British GQ awards gave him a standing ovation from the crowd that night.
He said “Like all parents we have problems with them. One of my sons has a tattoo on his ankle that was meant to be Africa but looks like Australia, one of my sons mumbles and one of my sons is a gay man. I’ll be honest, there’s been loads of nights when me and my wife have sat up and worried and worried and worried. What are we going to do if he doesn’t stop mumbling?”
What have the couple been up to since?
The two tested positive for COVID over Christmas in 2020. He and Melanie openly shared their experience on Twitter and Instagram.
They have since recovered from COVID-19 and continue to live on their beautiful rural farm in Cheshire along with their many pets.
