Amy Childs TOWIE: Why Did She Re-join The Show?
The return to TOWIE:
Towie stars were shocked when Amy, one of the cast originals came back to the screen in 2020 9 years after leaving the show. The reality TV star first joined the show The Only Way Is Essex back in 2010. But what inspired her decision to re-join the show? And why did she leave in the first place?

She left the show when she was offered to join the channel 5 show Celebrity Big Brother. As she was already contracted to TOWIE, it meant that she couldn’t keep her place in the show if she left for another series. But, she made her decision as she wanted her fame to continue to grow. She felt it was the next step and the next big opportunity in her career.
The decision to join the cast again came partly due to the fact that Amy wanted her mojo back. After becoming a mum 3 years ago to her firstborn Polly she then soon became pregnant again. Just 15 months later she had her second child Ritchie.

Mental health battle
During this time Amy struggled with her mental health feeling that her identity had been swallowed up in becoming a mum. She discussed how despite loving being a mum, she did struggle with this and felt that returning to Towie helped her regain her identity and made her feel as though she had got her old self back again.
In an interview with New! magazine, she opened up about her experiences:
‘Being a mum is the most rewarding job in the world, but you lose yourself and it becomes all about them. I don’t know if I had depression, but I felt very low at times.’
Who are the fathers?
It wasn’t just the adjustment to having two children it was also the reality of being a single mum and struggling with the break-ups of her children’s fathers. Ritchie and Polly have two different dads. The single mum shares Polly with builder ex Bradley Wright and her son Ritchie Jr with businessman ex Ritchie.

Ritchie’s dad prefers to keep his identity hidden and to remain out of the limelight. he is a businessman who has never had any interest in being in the public eye. But, despite staying hidden he keeps a good relationship with the Essex star and has always been a good father to their shared son.
Ex-boyfriend Bradley
Unfortunately, when it comes to her relationship with Polly’s father Bradley it is pretty much non-existent. The Essex beauty revealed that Polly has not seen her father since she was 6 years old when he decided to walk out on them. Amy opened up about how hard it had been for her and thanked her dad in an emotional tribute on TOWIE for stepping up and being the dad that Polly had never had.
Bradley has a criminal record and has served stints in jail and time in a Young Offender Institution. The pair first got together in 2013 and then split in 2015. Then in March 2016 the pair got back together and rekindled their romance briefly before splitting again.
Amy felt as though she was having to act as Bradley’s mum rather than a partner and she also decided he wasn’t proving to be a worthy father to their daughter Polly. In 2019, the Love Island star was convicted again. The charges were similar to previous convictions: arson, handling stolen goods and dangerous driving. The mum of two revealed that she was not shocked when she found out her ex was back in jail. She firmly declared that she would not be taking Polly to see her dad in prison.
Why have we only met Polly?
The star has been flooded with questions and abuse from TOWIE fans. The common theme of the abuse is why she has only appeared with daughter Polly and not with her son Ritchie. The Essex star explained that her decision was made with Ritchie’s father who does not want his son appearing in the public eye. Amy respects this decision and keeps their son’s identity firmly private. Despite having justified her reason openly, she still continues to receive backlash and malicious claims that Amy prefers her daughter over her son.

Amy also frequently posts pictures of Polly on social media. But, due to her joint decision with Ritchie’s father, their son is never shown.
