The 34-year-old fitness enthusiast, who is known as The Body Coach, will begin his exercise regime for ‘The Joe Wicks 24 Hour PE Challenge’ at 9.25am on Thursday November 12th and finish a day later on Friday November 13th at 9.25am.

Joe, who announced the news on this morning’s ‘Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ on Radio 2, said:

‘2020 has been a challenging year for us all, so what better way to end it than by raising money for BBC Children in Need, a charity very close to my heart.

‘Please show your support by donating whatever you can to this brilliant charity, and get involved by tuning in to work out with me and post your pictures on social media’.

Joe – who helped to keep the nation fit during lockdown with his ‘PE With Joe’ lessons on YouTube – will take part in a range of activities including cycling, yoga, boxing and rowing, as well as his signature HIIT workouts.

And he will be joined, via Zoom, by a host of celebrity guests, including Radio 2 presenters, to give him encouragement.

He will work out live on BBC Radio 2 from the BBC Studios in London, and viewers can watch his efforts live on the Red Button and BBC iPlayer across the 24 hours.

Helen Thomas, Head of BBC Radio 2, said:

‘Joe’s efforts to keep the nation fit this year have been awe-inspiring, so we were thrilled when he accepted our challenge to work out for 24 hours to raise funds for BBC Children in Need’.

Simon Antrobus, BBC Children in Need Chief Executive, added:

‘We know that the last six months have had a real impact on children and young people’s wellbeing, which is why the money raised by Joe and Radio 2 through this remarkable challenge will go on to help deliver crucial support to children and young people at a time when it is so urgently needed.

‘We are so grateful to Joe for taking on this challenge. It’s acts of kindness like this that help to make a difference to young lives, and we look forward to tuning in and cheering him on’.

Last year, Rylan Clark-Neal took part in a 24-hour karaoke challenge which helped Radio 2 raise more than £2 million for the charity.
