What Is The New Release Date?

The latest movie from the Marvel cinematic universe was announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic Con. It was originally supposed to be shown in cinemas in May 2020 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it now has a release date of May 7th, 2021.

What Is The Black Widow Movie About?

The newest Marvel movie is set after Captain America: Civil War (2016). Our heroine, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is alone and has been forced to tackle a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past life. She is hunted by a force that is determined to bring her down but she needs to confront her history with the red room and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she was an Avenger.

The final Black Widow trailer came out seven months ago and it's unknown as to whether there will be another before the new release date:

Who Is Starring In The Movie?

Of course Scarlett Johansson is reprising her role for the movie.

Little Women's Florence Pugh stars as Yelena Belova, another Black Widow, who is a sister-style figure to Natasha.

David Harbour - who is perhaps best known for his role on Stranger Things - plays Alexei Shostakov; also known as the Red Guardian who is the Russian version of Captain America. Speaking about his latest role, David has said that the Red Guardian is:
'a bit of a fatherly figure'

to Natasha and Yelena, and:
'[he] has tons of cracks all over him. And he’s not the heroic, noble man that [people] want him to be. He both comically and tragically has a lot of flaws'.

The Black Widow movie also stars Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff, another Black Widow spy trained in the Red Room. Ray Winston portrays Dreykov who is the head of the Red Room. Another notable mention is that Robert Downey Jr. will be stepping back into the role of Tony Stark/ Iron Man despite his character dying at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
