The broadcast star is 60 years old!

And, he has been broadcasting for 40 years!

Imagine the hard work, consistency and dedication that he must have put in to be where he is today!

From Dublin to London, Eamonn Holmes has come a long way. He continues to keep his fans and audience happy and well-entertained!

As widely known, Eamonn Holmes is a TV presenter on This Morning, ITV’s daytime magazine show. The Irish journalist had solid hosting and presenting experience in Ireland before he moved on to become a broadcasting star in the industry.

From Ulster Television, he moved on to BBC and GMTV. He then joined Sky News and proceeded to ITV to host This Morning in 2006.

He is now presenting the show with his wife, Ruth Langsford on Friday mornings and Monday to Thursday during school holidays.

He Is In Better Shape Now!

Earlier this year, health expert Steve Miller told Eamonn Holmes that the broadcast star could suffer from stroke or heart attack unless he loses his weight.

The bad news was revealed during an episode on This Morning and it must have left a lasting impact on Eamonn Holmes.

“Everyone needs a goal, and for you it’s life.

“The fat around here [your stomach] is really dangerous. I really care about you. I don’t want you having a heart attack, I don’t want you having a stroke, I don’t want you in a box.”

Eamonn now has a more chiselled face and weighs less than before.

Eamonn Holmes, His Wife And Their Relationship

Eamonn Holmes’ first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes lasted for ten years and the couple separated from the strain caused by Holmes’ father’s death and his busy journalism career.

The couple has three kids: two sons Declan and Niall and a daughter Rebecca.

Eamonn and his wife Gabrielle divorced in 2005 and Eamonn said:

“The end of the marriage, but not the end of the relationship… We share three children that we both adore.”

True enough, he has lived up to his words all these years. He has a tight relationship with all of his children, including his son from his marriage to Ruth Langsford.

On TV, wife Ruth Langsford and husband Eamonn Holmes are the electrifying duo who brings the house down with their charismatic and entertaining performance presenting ITV’s This Morning

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes started dating in 1997, two years after Eamonn separated from his first wife but the couple kept their relationship private to be respectful to Gabrielle.

In 2002, they had their son Jack and in 2005, Eamonn divorced Gabrielle.

The power couple got married in 2010. They now live in Surrey with their adorable dog Maggie. The couple are totally smitten over the dog (See for yourself!)

Their Unwavering Love For Dogs…

According to Eamonn,

“8 years ago this little darling came into my life and made me a better person. She was a rescue dog and I couldn’t understand why someone would not have cared for her before we came along.”

Their love for dogs have led them to be the patrons of Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. Interestingly, this was where they met Maggie, who is now a big part of their lives!

Eamonn said:

“Dogs Trust has made such a difference to not only my life but also Ruth and Jack’s. After meeting Maggie we knew we had to take her home with us and we’ve never looked back.

“I couldn’t imagine our home without her and Dogs Trust is providing similar happy endings each and every day for the thousands of dogs that they care for and rehome.”

A Little Bit About Ruth Langsford

Being the longest-serving female presenter of This Morning, Ruth shows grit, focus and dedication just like her husband (perhaps even more!).

A Fun Fact About Ruth: She had lived in five countries even before she was 10!

Previously, she had participated in Season 15 of Strictly Come Dancing

She is now anchoring ITV’s daytime chat show Loose Women as well as This Morning

The Couple’s Much-Loved Banter…

Eamonn and Ruth got to be among the most sporting couples in the television industry. They banter, pull at each other, and yet they present the show with so much love between them.

Their social media profiles give us enough sneak peeks into the loving relationship they share between them.

Apparently, Ruth pretended and deceived Eamonn Holmes when they were dating!

“When I met my wife Gary Lineker, she pretended she loved football.”

“She said she was a Manchester United supporter.”

Well, we have got one more!

He also thinks Ruth is difficult to live with!

“She calls me her poet, I wouldn’t hold back on how much I would tell her I love her.

“She’s a very difficult person to live with because she’s illogical with a lot of things.

“She is a complete panic merchant. I can’t panic people, although I love and adore her, she’s like a racehorse.

“You don’t know if you go up to it whether it will kick you, or bite the sugar lump out of your hand. You have no idea of what it will happen – it’s the adventure.”

“The thing about me is that I would say that I love Ruth far more than she loves me, but she would say, ‘how do you know how a person feels?’

“She’s more English. She’s not like me. I am from a very emotional, very sentimental family, she’s more stiff upper lip.

She comes from an army family, but I totally believe that she loves me and adores me, but I would still think that I love her and adore her more.”

Well, that is definitely warm and lovely…

But, Wait! Ruth Has Got Something To Say Too!

In an episode of Loose Women, Ruth teared up while reading a letter she had written for Eamonn.

“My darling, we are all so busy I worry I don’t take the time to tell you how much I love you.

“Well, I love you more than you will ever know. You make my life complete and give me the love and support to do everything I do.

“Thank you for making me feel like the most loved woman in the world.”

Are you tearing up yet?

Eamonn Holmes’ Uncanny Ability To Attract Troubles His Way

On the other hand, Eamonn is infamous for saying controversial things that had made his audience shocked and many others hurt and livid!

Interviewing Sophie Michelle who creates videos of her whispering to help people relax or go to sleep, Eamonn’s expression and words displayed his distaste quite strongly.

That’s my nightmare. That’s one of the most irritating things I’ve ever come across. But i’m not dismissing it, I do understand for a lot of people, and you have an amazing following, this works for them!”

Audience strongly felt that he was rude, unkind and mocked a practice that helps a lot of people deal with issues such as anxiety and depression.

The practice is also known as Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR).

Another Incident That Caused Controversy…

While interviewing Mitch Kennedy who donates his sperm to help couples conceive, Eamonn once again made insensitive remarks that provoked the audience.

He accused the sperm donor as being attention-seeking:

“I think it’s weird, I do, I find it weird and I think you’ve really got to ask yourself are you there for the applause as an actor?

“Do you like the attention? Obviously.”

Audience, once again called out to Eamonn for being rude, harsh, and offensive.

On The Other Hand…

Apart from Dogs Trust, he supported the Dementia Friends campaign in 2004, became an ambassador for the children’s charity, Variety GB and also patrons Northern Ireland Kidney Patients’ Association.
