Considering this is a top-notch achievement from Buckingham Palace, Ant and Dec must have done something right to land the OBE.

According to Dec,

“You don’t expect things like this to happen to lads like us from the west end of Newcastle so it’s a huge honour.

“We’re humbled and honoured and ecstatic about the whole thing. We hope it can inspire young people from backgrounds like ours that things like this do happen to us sometimes.

“Put your head down and work hard and you can achieve what you want. You can end up in Buckingham Palace.”

Inspiring? You bet!

But things were not that great for both Ant and Dec after that…

The Dark Days For Ant And Dec

Ant McPartlin was arrested in March 2018 for drink-driving and crashing into two other vehicles. He was fined £86,000 and was banned from driving for 20 months.

“I just want to say I’m truly sorry for what happened.

“High standards are expected of me, I expect them of myself. I’ve let myself down, I let a lot of people down. And for that, I am truly sorry.

“I’d like to apologise to everybody involved in the crash and I’m just thankful no-one was seriously hurt.”

Apart from causing trouble for a lot of people, his actions also altered Dec’s presenting.

Ant had to take a step back from Saturday Night Takeaway leaving Dec to run his own show.

Meanwhile, Holly Willoughby took over his part on I’m A Celebrity

Quite remarkably, Simon Cowell stood by Ant throughout the ordeal and was ready to welcome him back to host Britain’s Got Talent

“We’ve known each other a long time, and you stand by the people you work with over the years, for the obvious reasons.

“We always stand by our friends. We’re all human.

“The most important thing is he’s manned up, he’s going to get himself back together. And the show goes on, it’s as simple as that.”

“People, for whatever reason, they get into a rut and at times like this you stand by your mates. It’s always been that way.”

Good friends and second chances!

  • They pranked James Corden three times in a single morning!

  • Ant and Dec joined forces with Simon Cowell to prank Piers Morgan!

Piers was so worried when he broke a piece of expensive artwork which was claimed to be Simon’s and what’s more, Simon went just too well with the storyline!

  • They auditioned for American Idol to fool Simon Cowell!

Dec’s wife is Ant and Dec’s manager Ali Astall.

However, for over a decade the couple remained professional and didn’t venture into a romantic relationship. Things changed in 2014 when they started dating.

Dec married Ali in less than a year and in 2018 they welcomed their baby girl, Isla.

On the other hand, Ant recently split with his ex-wife Lisa Armstrong who he was married to for 11 years.

Apparently, Ant cheated on her with his current girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett.

But, according to Ant, she helped him get his life back!

“Anne-Marie honestly is the fundamental reason for the great change in my life. She’s been my rock.

“She’s a beautiful soul. We’re very happy. I’m in the best place I’ve been in my life, to be honest with you. It’s great.”
