This English singer/songwriter has had a massively successful career so just what is Robbie Williams' Net Worth?

From joining Take That to being a judge on X FactorRobbie has always had that cheeky chappy personality. Some love him for it, some get rubbed up the wrong way.

But no matter your opinion on him, he has certainly used it to make himself a success.

Having spent almost three decades in the spotlight, the character has certainly amassed quite a fortune. So where does his money come from? Who are his family? And what about his personal life?

What Is Robbie Williams Net Worth?

Robbie Williams is expected to have a net worth of around £149 million.

How Did He Join Take That?

Robbie Williams was born and raised in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. His parents ran a pub there called the Red Lion.

Growing up, Robbie demonstrated his desire for the stage as he participated in several school plays.

He joined the boy band Take That when he was just sixteen years old - the youngest member of the group.

It was actually his mother who encouraged him to try out for the group after reading an advertisement looking for members.

On the day of his audition he met Nigel Martin-Smith and fellow band member Mark Owen.

It was Gary Barlow who began to write the majority of Take That's songs, adopting the role of lead singer but Robbie did sing lead vocals for some of the now-classic songs including 'Could It Be Magic'.

However, it didn't take long before the singer began to rebel over the rules the band were made to follow.

Booze, Drugs And Kicked Out The Band

Williams began to drink excessively and started to use cocaine.

By 1994, his drug use had escalated. The night before the group were due to perform at the the MTV Europe Awards, Williams had a near overdose.

Since, Robbie has discussed feeling unhappy as neither Gary Barlow nor Neil Martin-Smith took his musical views into account.

Despite wanting to explore different genres, branching into hip hop or rap went against the usual image and tone of Take That. Meanwhile, Gary Barlow stated in interviews that Williams gave up on offering creative input.

With the upcoming Nobody Else Tour and William's continued behaviour and lack of attendance to rehearsals, band members Gary Barlow and Jason Orange decided to voice their concerns to about his attitude.

They stated that they wanted to do the tour without him and Williams left the band.

Robbie Flying Solo

The tour went ahead as a group of four before the boyband disbanded on 13 February 1996 (on Robbie Williams' birthday).

Soon after, Williams was pictured partying with the likes of George Michael and Oasis. He announced he was planning on launching a solo career but he was prohibited until the band was formerly dissolved. After several legal battles, he signed with Chrysalis records.

The singer has since battled with mental illness, obesity, alcoholism and substance abuse.

More recently, he discussed how Sir Elton John helped him by booking him into rehab to deal with his drug abuse.

Freedom.

To launch his solo career, Williams covered the George Michael record "Freedom" which reached number two in the charts.

It was then his fourth single, "Angels" which was his ultimate best-seller. The song was not only a hit in the UK but around Europe and Latin America which propelled his album to new heights.

The album remained in the UK charts for FORTY weeks.

Williams later began writing his second album in 1998 and the first single "Millennium" became his first solo number one in the UK.

His second album debuted at number one but gained even more attention from outside the UK.

He's Got The X Factor... For £10 Million

Earlier this year, the press revealed that a more than decent pay packet drew Robbie to the X Factor panel.

Having turned down the offer previously, the singer and his wife, Ayda Field, joined the Saturday night panel for a £10 million wage. They worked alongside Simon Cowell and former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson.

He cheekily said:
“Millions, there are literally millions of reasons to be on this panel for this season."

Robbie stated:
“Money was part of it, but we all want to find a star and with this panel we have a chance of attracting people who would not come on the show.”

Whilst Robbie brought his singing and performing experience to the table, Ayda, a regular on Loose Women, had no background in music.

She called herself an underdog, saying:
“I have auditioned for years and been through the highs and lows,

I know what it’s like to get the job and lose the job. If it wasn’t a challenge it wouldn’t be so fun. I’m excited to be the underdog.”

In 2019, the pair announced on Instagram that they would not be returning to the show.

Insiders divulged that:
"Robbie and Ayda were already on a £10million deal and there was no way we were going to be able to increase that sort of money."

This year's show has seen a massive change to the X Factor scene. With celebrity contestants, X Factor: Celebrity will focus on finding the best celebrity singer.

Contestants include rugby player Ben Foden, actress Hayley Hasselhoff and a group made up of Love Island contestants.

Speaking of Robbie's departure, Simon Cowell stated:
“It was no secret it was millions and millions of pounds. I am going to be really honest with you — and this is no disrespect to Robbie or anyone else who has been on the panel — my focus this year is mainly about the people who are coming on the show to compete.

Dividing his time between London and Los Angeles, they have not one, not two but three homes to choose from: £17 million mansion in London, a property in Los Angeles and a £15.9 million mansion in Malibu.

With their three children, the couple often share photographs of their homes on social media.

Robbie and Ayda have been in a relationship since 2006. They dated for three years before they got engaged. They later married in Robbie's home in Beverly Hills in 2010.

A few years later, Ayda gave birth to their first child Theodora 'Teddy' Rose in 2012 and their second child, Charlton 'Charlie' Valentine in 2014.

Finally, their third child was born via a surrogate, a daughter named Colette 'Coco' Josephine.

In true celebrity style, they have housekeeping staff and a private chef.
