Megan Barton-Hanson stopped her ex-boyfriend Wes Nelson appearing on ‘Celebs Go Dating’ as she “wasn’t keen” on the idea of her ex hanging around.

Bosses were forced axe plans for Wes, 21, to appear on the show after his former partner Megan, 25 – who he met on last year’s series of ITV2 dating show ‘Love Island’ – heard about the idea and “wasn’t keen” to have her “ex hanging around” while on the Channel 4 series.

A source told The Sun Online:

“There was a big plan to get Wes onto the show but Megan heard about it and wasn’t keen.

“No-one wants to be dating with their ex hanging around and she made her feelings perfectly clear.

“The situation would have been too awkward to bear and in the end it was a deal-breaker. Either bosses got Wes or they got her – not both.

“However, while the timing wasn’t right this time, Wes was told the door is open for him to appear on Celebs Go Dating in the future.”

The pair split in January and Megan has since confessed that she’s struggled to date in the public eye.

The blonde beauty opened up about her recent decision to feature on the new series of the dating show and admitted she needs help to “find the one” because dating outside of the ITV2 show has been “massively harder than anticipated”.

Sharing a post of the Channel 4 cast on Instagram, she wrote:

“I vowed never to do reality dating show again however dating in the public eye is massively harder than anticipated.. I cannot wait to see who the agents will set me up with and help me find the one @celebsgodating @limepictures @e4grams (sic)”
