Mr Salt is the rich father of the spoiled Veruca Salt. He is an example of parenting done wrong as his way of dealing with Veruca is to spoil her by giving her everything she wants and buying her love with money.
After the pair get tossed down the trash shoot, it seems Mr Salt finally comes to his senses and begins to discipline Veruca in the way that she needs!
British actor James Fox has since acted alongside his son Laurence Fox in ‘Allegory of Love’, an episode of the TV series Lewis in which his son takes the leading role. He was also part of the Sherlock Holmes cast, playing the part of Sir Thomas who was a member of the freemason-like secret society.
