Arthur Slugworth (Philip Philmar) – Then
Arthur Slugworth is the nemesis of Willy Wonka – a rival candy maker who is intent on stealing the famous Wonka recipes. He is depicted as a slippery and conniving character and in the end, manages to steal Wonka’s recipe for Candy Balloons, putting Wonka out of business.
Since acting in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, actor Philip Philmar has continued to act in Hollywood movies and worked with Johnny Depp and Tim Burton again in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He also played the character of Mr Archer in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
He has also since appeared in Les Miserables, Jack the Giant Slayer and HBO’s hit fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. He recently starred in two short films: P3ACE and Actress.
