Love Island News: Line-Up Slammed Over Lack Of Body Diversity
In the latest Love Island news, the recently unveiled line-up has been criticised by celebrities Malin Andersson, Lucy Mecklenburgh and Alexandra Cane for its ‘lack of body diversity’.
With the recent announcement of the dating show’s 2019 contestants, fans have slammed the programme, claiming that it ‘lacks body diversity’.

Reality star Lucy ‘Meck’ Mecklenburgh was one of the first critics, taking to Instagram to share her comments:
‘Sorry to 2 b negative as so many are super excited about Love Island.
Just to be clear I’m not body shaming them for being this size/shape but why not mix it up a bit!! but y are all the girls size 6-8 & all the guys have a six pack?’

Villa alumni Alexandra Cane also took to social media to comment on the show’s recently unveiled line-up, posting:

Former Love Islander Malin Andersson also hit out at the show for an apparent lack of different body types among the new Casa Amor contestants. She wrote:
‘And I thought they would have some diversity. Meh.’
In a tongue in cheek follow up, she later wrote: ‘Here’s a teeny bit of diversity for ya. Love me x’ which accompanied a photo of her posing in a skimpy neon bikini.

This backlash comes as the show appeared to have answered the call for more varied body types to be seen on the show, with plus-size model Anna Vikali as a contestant.
The pharmacist who has a Middle Eastern background revealed:

‘I am different to anyone who has been on the show before’.
‘I have the whole glam look. I’m fun but at the same time I feel like I have more to me than that. I studied hard and I’ve got my masters. I’m a pharmacist and I have a Middle Eastern background.’

Insiders from the show told Mirror: ‘Previous years have been criticised for a lack of diversity among contestants. This year producers are determined to have more variation… They want all shapes and sizes taking part – not just a stream of identikit men and women.’
