The ‘cheese dog’ originated in Little Rock back in 1956, founded by Finkbeiner Meat Packing Co., a Little Rock company.

The name ‘Little Rock’ actually came from a little rock. The French explorer, Bernard de la Harpe, came across a small rock formation on the Arkansas River which he names La Petite Roche (“the little rock”) and the name stuck.
