As his playing career was winding down in 2005, Pep Guardiola had talks with Wigan Athletic about playing for them. Interestingly, then-Latics boss Paul Jewell ultimately decided Guardiola wasn’t good enough; something which Pep has since agreed with, despite his pedigree of playing for the likes of Barcelona, Brescia, and Roma.
