Mrs. Quickly (Celia Imrie) – THEN

The Brown kids really did their best to get rid of this one – and quickly too! Mrs. Quickly certainly had an afternoon tea to remember with Cedric. All the kids were playing pranks on her with frogs and worms and tarantulas and she was absolutely oblivious to their efforts. As kids, we thought the dialogue between her and Cedric was innocent but watch that scene back now and you’ll see it’s rife with innuendos! Actually, looking back, she had a lot of suggestive lines throughout the film:

“There’s only one thing men want. It’s no wonder there are so many of you.”

Yikes, we’re glad Cedric didn’t marry her!

Nowadays, Celia is still enjoying the spotlight. She made her U.S debut in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and achieved her first UK Top 40 single along with Lily James for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!
