Nicole Kidman (1997)

Now we’ve made it to the creme de la creme- the priciest dresses to ever grace the Academy Awards. First is this lime green, satin gown donned by Nicole Kidman. Did you know she was actually paid $2 million to appear on the carpet in this? Just take a minute to imagine being paid to wear a dress? Whether you love it or hate it, I’d take just about anything for a payment like that; put me in a paper bag and call it a day! The embroidered Dior gown designed by John Galliano was paired with some decadent earrings, with a little side of Tom Cruise.

Just last year (a whole 21 years later!!!) Kidman was still turning heads on the AA red carpet. Still very much going for the vibrant coloured option, and a similar fabric, she donned this indigo dress for last year’s awards. She’s aged very gracefully (with a little help, we’re sure), but it’s good to see she’s still pushing the fashion limits. I wonder how much she got paid to wear that one?
