Things You Didn’t Know About I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

Every year Autumn rolls around: the clocks go back, the evenings draw in as auburn leaves skitter across the frosty ground, and there’s a creeping sense that something is missing from our TV lives…

We’ve fallen in love at the villa and shimmied our way through the first half of Strictly season, braved the boardroom and watched Simon Cowell take down wobbly vocalists – like a lion let loose in the gazelle enclosure. You’d think our every entertainment wish and whim would be catered for – and yet, there’s something missing.

There just aren’t enough…gigantic terrifying insects.

Luckily without fail since 2002, I’m a Celeb has been here to satisfy that inexplicable and slightly disturbing part of us that just wants to see a famous person having a rougher day than we are (and hopefully, ever will).

Yes it’s that time of year again, it is practically Christmas and we are welcoming the three-week stint where we wave goodbye to our social lives and obsess over another 12 celebs thrown into (tortured) the depths of the Australian Jungle.

Eep, we can barely contain out excitement, this ones for you guys…

    Welcome to the Jungle…

Got your mosquito net? Hat? Incredibly strong stomach? Great, then you’re ready for the jungle.

    50. It was originally called ‘Get Me Out of Here- I’m a Celebrity!’

Not quite so catchy this way round is it? In some parallel universe, they kept it this way.

Maybe their viewers also tune into ‘Talent in Britain’, ‘Fiercely Come Dancing’ and ‘The Y Factor’.

    49. It’s not 100% live anymore

It is beamed to our screens pretty directly, but there’s a deliberate five second delay added on top of any seconds spent bouncing the footage around the world.

Broadcasters sometimes choose to put these delays in, to give them a chance to intervene in the case of serious wardrobe malfunctions or other calamities.

    48. The delay in broadcast was introduced after a sweary slip up in Series 3

ITV made this call after John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, continued the Sex Pistols tradition of swearing on live TV.
