With Oktoberfest 2018 just passed, it’s unbelievable we’ve gotten this far in our world tour without stopping down in one of beer’s unofficial spiritual homes.

An excuse to drink between the end of summer and Halloween is always welcome

Around six million people visit Munich annually for the folk festival, and in the Munich Oktoberfest 2013, a staggering 7.7 million litres of beer was served up.

Now Oktoberfest is celebrated in cities around the world, but it has been an important element of Bavarian culture since 1810, and is held every year for 16-18 days in the Autumn.

Outside of festival time, a beer in the capital Berlin will run you around £2.84.

It might be a good point to line your stomach slightly, so grab a Pretzel or some Spritzkuchen from a local bakery.

And, of course, always make sure to say ‘bitte’ once you’re served your bitter…and if you get a lager still say thank you, pun withstanding it’s just good form.
