It has a very ancient ghostly presence in the cellar
The most famous sighting was reported by Harry Martindale – an apprentice engineer at the time – in 1953.

He said he saw a whole legion of Romans marching through the house’s cellar – some of the oldest ghosts reported in the UK. Imagine that – stuck in a cellar for almost 2,000 years?
16. Croft Castle, Herefordshire
The building has been on the site since the 11th century, owned by the Croft family.

It’s now owned by the National Trust and open to visitors. But the castle has a secret: it’s haunted.

Apparently seven ghosts roam the grounds, the most famous of them being the Welsh freedom fighter, Owain Glyndwr.
