Despite featuring an abundance of animals throughout the movie, there were actually no real animals on set.

After the film was released, a rumour began to spread which told of an elephant being killed during one of the stampede scenes.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, many people believed the rumour, which caused a public outcry against the film.

The funny thing is, no real animals were ever on set and what you see on-screen is the work of CGI.

Today we would have no trouble spotting the difference between these special effects and real life, but at the time, these animals looked frighteningly realistic.
