    1. ToastieĀ Maker

Remember your mum making you a cheese and ham toastie? There was nothing better than a Saturday or Sunday lunchtime and deciding that you were going to treat yourself to a delicious little toastie. This brings back SO many memories. I remember my brother ALWAYS used to steal half of my toastie whenever I made one.

The best thing about the good old toastie maker was that you could basically put any average sandwich in there and it would always turn into the best toastie you’ve ever made!

    2. Tupperware

Mine had a full set of brown Tupperware. There was nothing quite like trying to find a lid for you Tupperware box. I swear that this was an actual impossible task. We used to have a cupboard FULL of mismatched Tupperware. Where did the lost bits run off to?!

In our house we had a very special set of Tupperware that could only be used on picnics. Even if you couldn’t find what you wanted in the cupboard, we still weren’t allowed the special picnic Tupperware.

    3. Teapot

So, who remembers having a set like this? I think that every single household had little bits like this. In my house we never actually used the teapot, instead, it was just there for display purposes. My mum said it was too nice to actually use… which I always thought was silly. Why would you want to own something that you could never use?

There are still some households today that still have their antique teapots and teapot sets and I love taking a trip to my grandma’s and seeing the teapot she used to use many years ago. She still uses it to this day!

    4. Video Player

Everyone had one of these in their home! This was all the range when we were younger. There was nothing we loved more than when new bits of technology were released to us to use. This brings back the best kind of memories, doesn’t it?

Remember when the video got stuck and you had to rewind using the buttons on the machine. Constantly stopping and starting it before you went too far. This was another daily struggle today’s generation will never get to experience.

    5. Glass Fish

No idea why everyone loved these in the 80s… Every single household had to have one of these in there. I remember my grandparents used to collect these. What was the obsession with fish? We all have to admit that these did look pretty cool, didn’t they?

You don’t see many glass fish ornaments or any fish memorabilia at all anymore. Unfortunately the fish era is well and truly over!

    6. Medicated Toilet Paper

This stuff was not comfortable… I am sure that they just wanted to make like worse for us when we were ill and had to use medicated toilet roll. There was nothing that hurt your delicate areas more! I never liked using this stuff… and I am sure that no one in the UK liked it either!

    7. Phone Book

I remember when my dad got one of these. There was nothing I loved more than playing with it. It definitely wasn’t a toy but it managed to keep me entertained for ages. I could never understand the logic behind it or how it even worked! My dad used to always shout at me when I was playing with it because ‘It’s not a toy’. To be fair, he did have a LOT of important numbers on it!

    8. Bar Of Soap

Why did she always save the last piece of the old one? There was always a fresh new one on the side of the kitchen and then a manky one that no one ever wanted to use… You always found yourself putting the old bar of soap and the new one together to try and merge the two.

Bars of soap are still at large today, but we have to admit, we don’t use them half as much as we did.

    9. Old TV Set

The relic TV set. We can all remember the days of all sitting around a tiny TV set hoping to watch television. You were SO annoyed when someone turned it over without asking you.

It’s crazy how far technology has come and how the kids of today will never understand the struggle of only having a few channels and not having the opportunity to record our favourite TV programme. Oh no, back in our day we had to make sure we were in by a certain time so that we didn’t miss it.

    10. Bedsheet

EVERYONE had one of these. Remember being wrapped up warm in one of these? This is the true definition of being a kid of the 70s and 80s. Everyone had their very own bed sheet/blanket that they kept for years and never wanted to throw out. Some people still have theirs today and we’re not surprised!

Does this bring back some great memories for you?

    11. Hair Rollers

I loved putting these in my mum’s hair… I also remember the days of trying my hardest to put these in my hair too… but I used to just fail miserably. They always used to get tangled up in my hair.

Hair rollers aren’t as popular as they were many years ago but we still see some people rocking their hair in rollers on a Friday or Saturday morning, ready for their big night out with the girls.

    12. Game Boy

Nintendo Game Boy’s were released at the end of the 80’s and were the start of a whole new revolution of technology and gaming. I remember when I was bought my very first Game Boy and couldn’t get my head around the fact that I was playing a game through a screen.

Snake and Tetris were the most popular game at the time and you could spend hours trying to beat your friends high scores. Comparing a Game Boy with what is available for kids today, the graphics were terrible, but back then none of that mattered!
