7. He wanted Christian Bale to beat him.

As we all know, he liked to get into character and in the interrogation scene, we see Batman beating up the Joker. The combat was actually real because he wanted to scenes to look as authentic as possible.

He asked Bale to beat him up as hard as possible. So that very real looking scene was in fact REAL.

8. He did his own makeup.

Makeup artists weren’t in charge of the way the Joker looked. Heath wanted to do it how a man would with a load of cheap makeup, so that’s how he did it.

The look was then improved by the directors and then it was up to the makeup artists to recreate the psychotic look every day for shooting.
