‘Every night I lie in bed, the brightest colours fill my head. A million dreams are keeping me awake…’
You’ll be singing that song to yourself for the rest of the day now. Still, we don’t mind if you hate us for it because in the words of Charity Barnum:
‘You don’t need everyone to love you, just a few good people.’
Okay, we’ll stop…
When The Greatest Showman hit cinemas back in 2017, the world definitely was not ready for the magic that was to come! The original musical was seven years in the making and tells the story of an ambitious young businessman striving to make his way in the showbiz world.
Based on a true story, the show captures what it means to be different and how important it is to be loving and accepting of those around you… P.T. Barnum set up a circus of ‘freaks’ who were casted away by the outside world but found the family they never in Barnum and each other as performers.
The musical is full of non-stop hits – one of which was nominated for an Oscar! Over a year later and we’re still banging on about it so that has to mean something.
Plus, Zac Efron is in it!
If you’re a true showman, then settle down because we’re about to draw the red curtains on some little unknown facts about the movie and the real life characters themselves.
1. Hugh Jackman risked his health to sing a song
Just a few weeks before he was meant to perform his final sing-through in front of the Fox executives, The Greatest Showman frontman Hugh Jackman had to undergo skin surgery after battling another bout of skin cancer, a form known as basal cell carcinoma.
He was advised by doctors to avoid singing.
