”The hills are alive with the sound of music, with songs they have sung for a thousand years…”
You remember The Sound Of Music, don’t you? The heartwarming 1965 romance/drama film that was based on the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical about the real life Von Trapp family singers? What am I talking about, of course you do!
Despite being released over five decades ago, (feeling old yet?) the box office hit -which took home five Oscars, I might add- remains the third highest grossing film in Canada and the US and honestly, who could be surprised by that given the soul-stirring plot line and timeless songs that have made this film so iconic?
But as you can probably imagine, things have changed drastically since we last seen the cast…
The adorable (and mischievous) kids are all grown up with families of their own and some stars have even left show business!
If you’re dying to know -and we know you are- what the Von Trapp family have been up to since fleeing to Switzerland, then ponder no more…
1. Christopher Plummer (Baron Georg Von Trapp)
You might remember that at the beginning of the film, Austro-Hungarian Naval officer Baron Georg Von Trapp was portrayed as being an unbearably strict and uncaring individual, who didn’t give a second thought to how his children might have been feeling. In real life however, Georg is said to have always been a kind natured and patient man, which makes the movie representation of him completely inaccurate!
