It hasn’t been long since the new Beauty and the Beast was released. This hugely anticipated film came out earlier this year and is still in the cinemas to this very day.
They adapted the infamous Disney cartoon and cast the gorgeous Emma Watson to play the role of Belle – and we all agree that they couldn’t have cast a better person for this!

1. Ryan Gosling was offered the role of the Beast originally
He was offered this incredible role but decided that he would turn it down because he had his role in La La Land. Amazingly, Emma Watson was offered the female lead in La La Land but decided that she would turn it down so she could play the part in Beauty and the Beast!
2. Ewan McGregor had to re-do his dialogue once the filming had finished
Amazingly, even though his wife is French, Ewan McGregor discussed that he really struggled doing the French accent for his role of Lumiere. He claimed that his voice actually ended up sounding more Mexican than French!
3. Four of the cast members share the same birthday
Emma Watson who played the role of Belle, Emma Thompson who played the role of Mrs. Potts, Luke Evans who played the role of Gaston and Nathan Mack who played the role of Chip all share the same birthday of April the 15th. Amazingly, this was also the date of the first read through of the script!
4. Belle’s ballroom gown needed a massive three thousand feet of thread
To make the incredible dress it took three thousand feet of thread. Not only this, but it took twelve thousand designer hours to complete the dress fully. There were also a massive two thousand one hundred and sixty Swarovski crystals on the dress!
5. The actors had to sing ‘Hakuna Matata’ in their auditions
Throughout the audition process, the actors had to sing ‘Hakuna Matata’ in order to help measure their singing voices. This was Bill Condon’s idea who held the auditions. This was how he managed to chose the final case for the whole film!
6. The filming was completed a massive 18 months before the film was released
This shows how long the post production for the film took. There was so much CGI in the film – especially with the Beast – that they had to spend a tremendous amount of time on the post production.
7. The first teaser trailer was viewed a massive 91.8 million times within 24 hours
There was huge anticipation for this film and the first teaser trailer that was released was viewed a massive 91.8 million times within just 24 hours. Statistically, this made is one of the most viewed teaser trailers to have been released in history. Prior to this, the record was held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) who had a massive eighty eight million views in the first 24 hours, closely followed by Captain America: Civil War (2016) which was viewed by sixty-one million views. The one thing that these all have in common is that they’re all Disney films!
