These are the films that helped form our childhood. We were positively obsessed with these when we were younger. This will definitely take you on a trip down memory lane!
1. The Devil wears Prada.
Just imagine for a second what it would be like to have a boss like Miranda Priestly. Well, some of us don’t have to imagine. Andy (Anne Hathaway) played the role of a recent college graduate who landed a job at prestigious Runway magazine. She finds herself being ordered about by Miranda, being asked to do ridiculously difficult tasks while trying to find the time to juggle work life and her relationship.
Throughout her time at Runway, Andy makes friends with a few people, some bad, some good. She started off at the company as a shy, innocent young girl, who is thanks to friend Nigel transformed into a confident, responsible and stylish character.
Apart from Emily Blunt, the cast of the movie were already very well-known movie stars, so there was really no doubt that this movie was going to be a huge hit. Streep’s performance in the movie bagged her her 14th Oscar bid as well as a Golden Globe for Best Actress in Comedy or Musical. Emily Blunt has gone on to become and extremely successful Hollywood actress, recently bagging the role as Mary Poppins in the remake which is set to be released next year.
The film is as you’ve guessed set in the fashion world, but most designers and other fashion notables avoided appearing in the movie as themselves for fear of displeasing U.S Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Anna is believed to have been the inspiration for this movie, but no one is 100% sure of this. Most of the designers, however, did allow their clothes and accessories to be used in the film making it the most expensively costumed film in history.
Anna Wintour did comment on the movie after it’s release, saying she liked the film and loved Streep’s character.
